Our Story
This all started for us back in 2018. My wife and I were installing 30 rose bushes in our front yard. When I found out the cost for 30 rose bushes, I nearly fell over. Realizing this was going to be a large investment, and knowing neither of us had a green thumb, I started researching how to take care of rose bushes. I came across worm castings and their natural benefits. Needless to say, I was blown away.

FAQs
What makes worm castings different from traditional compost?
Worm castings are the final layer of decomposition. Traditional compost has larger materials that still need further decomposition before it is water soluble for your plants to absorb. Worm castings are a byproduct of worms and microbes digesting traditional compost, creating a much richer organic fertilizer. They also contain a higher concentration of beneficial microbes compared to traditional compost.
How long do worm castings last?
Worm castings can last up to several years in the soil, slowly releasing nutrients to your plants. It's recommended to reapply annually or as needed to maintain healthy plant growth. Because worm castings contain microorganisms, it is recommended that you use your castings within 6-12 months after purchase for optimal performance.
Are worm castings safe for all plants?
Yes, worm castings are all organic and safe to use on all plants - including edible fruits and vegetables. They are an all-natural organic fertilizer that won't harm your plants or the environment.
How do I use worm castings in my garden?
Worm castings can be used in a variety of ways, including as a soil amendment, top dressing, or in compost tea. Simply mix them into the soil or sprinkle on top and water in.
How should I store worm castings?
It is recommended that you store your Brown Banana Worm Castings in a cool place ranging from 70-90 degrees. Worm Castings are bursting with microorganisms. Storing in extremely hot temperatures could kill the microbes and render the worm castings less effective. For best results, use Brown Banana Worm Castings within 6-12 months after purchase. If you have any unused castings, be sure to reseal the bag to retain as much moisture as possible. Moisture helps keep the microbes alive.
Can I use too much worm castings?
Technically you can't use too much worm castings. But studies have shown that a 1:5 ratio (or 20%) of castings to soil, is the most efficient and optimal ratio. More than 20% won't create any additional benefits for your plants. Furthermore, worm castings do need other organic material as a food source for the microbes. So if you stick to the 1:5 rule, both your wallet and plants will be happy.
What is your return policy?
We have a 30 day unopened bag policy.
Are worm castings pet friendly?
Yes, worm castings are 100% pet and kid friendly. It is all organic. There are no chemicals in worm castings.
Do worm castings smell or have an odor of any kind?
No. Worm castings simply smell like dirt. They don't have a rancid smell or manure odor. You can feel confident in using worm castings inside your home without any unpleasant odor.
Will I need to add additional supplements or fertilizer to my plants?
For most plants, you won't need to add any additional fertilizers. However, for some plants that require more NPK elements to thrive (like corn or citrus), it is recommended to continue adding the higher levels of N, or P, or K, that your plant requires, but at a reduced amount of 25%. Since worm castings have an enormous amount of fungi and mycorrhizae strands, they will naturally boost your plant's nutrient uptake by 3-5x.
Why do worm castings last longer than synthetic fertilizers?
Because worm castings are exploding with billions of beneficial microbes, when you inject your soil with this biology, it begins to naturally multiply. As it multiplies, it continues to turn the organic matter in your soil into water soluble fertilizer. Because this is an organic process, you will see the benefits of this ecosystem for months and maybe years to come. However, over time, this biology will run out of food or die from unsuitable weather conditions. So it is recommended to reapply each season for best results. With synthetic fertilizers, you're simply injecting your plants with a finite amount of NPK. Once your plant uses up that NPK, it has no other food source. And most plants will use up that NPK within a few weeks to a month - requiring you to add more synthetic fertilizer more frequently. In the long-run you're adding more value to your soil and plants by using worm castings. You'll be turning your soil into something that works for you.
